Collecting monkeys to make Guinness Book World of Records

McALESTER — Recently, local radio personality Kevin Dean has asked that people help him to collect stuffes monkeys, apes, gorillas — primates of all kinds —to not only make the Guinness World Book of World records, but to pass them out to children in regional hospitals throughout the region and now his deadline is nearing reaches out for help with his cause.

“Our goal is 2,000,” he said and added that right now the collection is approximately 100.

He said that means there is 1,900 left to meet the mark. Dean said you can find monkeys for a $1 in some local discount stores. He said the collection ends on Dec. 15.

“We only have until Dec.15th,” Dean said. “So please help us put a smile on a child's face this Christmas.”

Dean jokingly said, “Stop monkeyin’ around and mail them to Kevin Dean at P.O. Box 1068, McAlester, OK. 74502.”

He said he has received monkeys from as far as Oklahoma City and Muskogee.

Dean said you can drop them off at McAlester Radio at 1801 E. Electric Ave. in McAlester.
