The McAlester Archeological Society will host Dr. Mary Beth Trubitt for its August program Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Trubitt has been station archeologist at Henderson State University at Arkansas since 2000. With a PhD from Northwestern University in Illinois, she directed excavations that uncovered a portion of the palisade surrounding the great metropolis of Cahokia, near St. Louis. In Arkansas, Trubitt has developed interests in prehistoric novaculite mining and in Caddo archeology.
She was one of the directors of the Arkansas Archeology Survey’s spring dig in June. She will be presenting the results of the dig at site No. 3MN298 near Oden, Ark.
The local archeology group’s meeting is open to the public and will be held at Krebs City Hall.
