McALESTER — The final discussion of the “Get Your Reading Kicks on Route 66” reading and discussion series at McAlester Public Library will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Dr. Bill Hagen will give a multimedia presentation on the book “West on 66: A Mystery” by James H. Cobb.

The book concludes the “Spring 2013 Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma” series sponsored by the Oklahoma Humanities Council.

Books, services and other materials for this series are provided by LTAIO, a project of the Oklahoma Humanities Council with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Funding for this series was provided by a grant from the Inasmuch Foundation.

Hagen recently retired from Oklahoma Baptist University after teaching there for 38 years. He taught courses in Western Civilization, the modern novel, and film.

Hagen has been an active scholar in “Let's Talk About It” programs since they began in the mid-80s.

He has created two series of programs: The Oklahoma Experience: Re-Visions (which includes Rilla Askew's Fire in Beulah) and a new series that McAlester will inaugurate this Fall: Oklahoma Private Investigations.

Kathy McGilberry is the assistant librarian at the McAlester Public Library.
