A McAlester woman and her child were injured after an incident involving a semi-truck on US Highway 69 in Savanna, officials say.
Savanna Police Chief David Spears said the accident occurred Monday at approximately 1 p.m.
Eloisa Garza, 36, of McAlester, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord with one passenger, Garza’s 4-year-old son, Spears said.
Garza was stopped on U.S. Highway 69 south at the Candlelight Inn when she was struck from the rear by a 2004 Kenworth driven by Thomas DeLong, of Maiden Rock, Wis., Spears said.
After colliding with the vehicle, the semi crashed into a closed restaurant on the motel property.
Garza was hospitalized with a broken arm and internal trunk injuries and the child was hospitalized with skull and trunk injuries, Spears said.
On Tuesday the child was listed in good condition, according to officials at St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa.
No information was released on Garza.
The driver of the semi was not injured, Spears said.
