McALESTER — Saturday the McAlester community will have an opportunity to see a free “big band” style praise orchestra, according to organizer Mike Pruitt.

The event is hosted by the First Baptist Church of McAlester and is set for 7 p.m.

“McAlester and the surrounding community are in for a very entertaining night in the form of the Tulsa Praise Orchestra,” Pruitt said.

He said the orchestra will bring its 22 piece band along with its 60 member Celebration Choir and National Recording Artist Dave Boyer.

Bob Archer, founder and manager of the orchestra said the group is in its 18th season and has performed over 500 concerts throughout Oklahoma and across the nation.

“We’ve played concerts all over, including in Tulsa, Branson, Santa Fe, and even at the Statue of Liberty in New York City,” Archer said.

“This is our first time to visit McAlester and we’re excited about being hosted by the First Baptist Church” he said.

“We hope the whole community comes out for the concert.”

Meanwhile, Pruitt said during the event the orchestra will introduce their new recording entitled the “Thank You Project,” to honor American veterans.

“Everyone is welcome, this is a free community event,” he said.

The church is at 100 East Washington, McAlester.
