McALESTER — A former clerk for the City of Haileyville has been charged with two felony counts of taking money from the city and falsifying daily receipt and payment logs.
Karri Teafatiller, 36, is charged with one felony count of embezzlement for allegedly “fraudulently appropriating to her own use, the sum of more than $1,000 that had come to her care/control by virtue of her employment with the City of Haileyville,” the charge states.
She has also been charged with one felony count of falsification of public records by allegedly falsifying daily receipt and payment logs, also while employed as clerk for the City of Haileyville.
According to an affidavit, Haileyville Assistant Police Chief Ronnie Steudeman was told by Haileyville Mayor Monica Tevebaugh that she had money that had not been accounted for.
In one incident, Steudeman reported Tevebaugh and taken in a cash bond for $352. In the affidavit, Tevebaugh stated she and Haileyville Police Chief David Johnston initialed the receipt.
