The Pittsburg County Commissioners approved paying nearly $200,000 for an insurance policy Monday morning during their regularly scheduled meeting.
The approved resolution was to execute an agreement establishing the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma Self-Insurance Group, also known as ACCO-SIG, and select a payment option for the property and liability insurance. Commissioners chose to pay two installments, for a total of $192,830, for the insurance.
“It seems like a lot of money,” said Pittsburg County Commission Vice-Chairman Kevin Smith, “but that is really cheap. We’re insuring lots of vehicles and equipment and buildings.”
Also on the agenda, commissioners approved a payment request for $78,830 to Glover & Associates for the Crowder Community Center parking lot project.
A number of other agenda items involved renewing contracts for the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year. These contracts are ones that were in place for the 2012-2013 fiscal year and, though no changes were made, they needed to be renewed for the upcoming fiscal year.
Pittsburg County commissioners meet every Monday at 9 a.m. in the commissioners conference room at the Pittsburg County Courthouse. The meetings are open to the public.
