Corporate sponsors needed for Okla. Project Woman luncheon fundraiser

McALESTER — Plans are underway for the 2014 Annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon set for Oct. 30, organizers say.

Each year more than 400 people gather to help raise money for Oklahoma Project Woman by taking part in a fundraiser luncheon where guests usually dress in shades of pink in support of breast cancer awareness, according to Chairwoman Frances Lerblance.

The dollars raised at the Pink Ribbon Luncheon will benefit Oklahoma Project Woman an organization dedicated to providing access to breast health care that will facilitate the early diagnosis and decrease the mortality of breast cancer for uninsured women with limited financial resources, according to Lerblance.

“We want to stress that while this is an informative luncheon, it’s also an important fundraiser for Project Woman,” she said.

And she said corporate sponsors are encouraged to help with this year’s event.

Each year Project Woman sends in thousands of dollars locally to provide mammograms and other services for local women, Lerblance said.

“We want increase our donations to send Project Woman by sending them more money than they send us this year.”

This year the committee selected Debbie McCauley of McAlester as honorary chairperson.

McCauley is married to Dr. John McCauley.

“We chose Debbie because she is a full of great ideas and is a very active member of the community,” Lerblance said.

And this year their may be big change in the location of the event.

Lerblance said although luncheon was traditionally held at the Southeast Expo Center, she said this year the Pink Ribbon committee is looking at another locations.

“We will be going on a field trip soon to look at other local venues,” she said.

She said more details about the luncheon will be released once they are finalized.

She said corporate sponsorships are available for $550 for a table for eight.

For more information about becoming a sponsor, contact Lerblance at 918-297-2501 or 918-24-1026.
