A McAlester man was charged on Wednesday for allegedly breaking into an empty house.
Todd Welsh, 19, was arrested on Tuesday after officers were dispatched to the area of 12th Street and Fleming Avenue. According to a police affidavit, police responded because a citizen reported seeing a man enter into the unused residence.
Welsh was charged with burglary in the second degree, a felony. It is alleged that the house still held property and that Welsh had the intent to trespass.
According to the court documents, the owner of the property is unknown.
If convicted, Welsh could face up to seven years in prison. There is no fine that accompanies the charge.
