McALESTER — McAlester native Attorney Paul Northcutt has returned to McAlester joining Edwards Law Firm.

In May 2010, Northcutt received his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University Law School.

“I will be practicing in several areas including, but not limited to criminal, DUI, divorce, custody, probate, social security, personal injury, litigation,” Northcutt said.

Northcutt said he previously worked at the Tulsa County District Attorney’s office from September 2012 to October 2011 as an assistant district attorney.

“I prosecuted thousands of a wide range of both felony and misdemeanor cases, including trying several felony jury trials,” he said. “During law school at Oklahoma City University, I was a licensed legal intern at the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s office from May 2009 until July 2010.”

Northcutt he has been back in town for approximately a month and said he is glad to be back.

Northcutt is the son of Jim and Susie Northcutt of McAlester. Both Jim and Susie worked for McAlester Public Schools  many years before retiring.

Paul said his father Jim was superintendent for MPS years ago and his mother taught and was a librarian for the schools.

After being asked what brought him to practice law Northcutt said, “ I practice law because I now know how much of a difference a good attorney can make in helping clients through a stressful and difficult time in their life.”

He said after college he found he enjoyed working with people more than documents.

“I also knew that I wanted to do something that would make a difference in someone’s life that I could see through to the end,” he said.
