McALESTER — Kiowa Police and their patrol dog got an unusual Christmas present last week, when they pulled over a truck and found marijuana wrapped in Christmas gift.
“This as the first time I have seen drugs wrapped as a Christmas present,” said Kiowa Police Sergeant Jess Wilson.
Dec 14, Wilson and his K-9 partner Hassan pulled over a pick up driven by 19-year-old Dustin Michael Jack of Arkansas.
“The driver said he was going home to Texas for the holidays,” said Wilson.
During a routine search, Hassan alerted the sergeant that drugs were in the vehicle.
“Hassan sniffed around the truck and alerted me to an odor of narcotics,” Wilson said. “I let him sniff the inside of the vehicle and Hassan focused on a blue Christmas package.”
The sergeant said the package was under some luggage.
“It was like Christmas morning and Hassan wanted to open the present,” Wilson said.
He said when he investigated the contents of the Christmas gift, he found marijuana and paraphernalia.
