State cancels Stuart, Hughes Co. boil order

McALESTER — The mandatory boil order for Hughes County Rural Water District 2 has been lifted, allowing Stuart Quick Pic to reopen its kitchen and making way for other businesses in Stuart to reopen.

A mandatory boil order was put into effect July 22 by the state Department of Environmental Quality for the Hughes County Rural Water District 2. The order was lifted Monday, according to Hughes Rural Water District 2.

The boil order originally went into effect after DEQ tested the RWD 2 water system on July 22.

Customers had complained of dirty water, low-to-no water pressure and that problems had progressively worsened over the last two years.
