McALESTER — Grayson Mullins, a 6-year-old from McAlester, and his bluetick coonhound, Razor, took third in the Non-Licensed Water Race at the 2013 United Kennel Club Youth National Championship on July 19 in Holmesville, Ohio. It was Mullins’ second career dog show. Blake Hackler, Grayson’s uncle and co-owner of H & H Bluecreek Kennel in Adamson and Blocker, also appears in this photo, as does Blake’s 3-year-old son, Bryer Hackler.

City council OKs construction of water pump header
The city of McAlester is looking at a substantial repair bill at the McAlester Water Treatment Plant.
Among the items city councilors passed during their regular Tuesday night meeting in the council chambers at City Hall was authorizing the mayor to sign a contract between the McAlester Public Works Authority and Garrow Construction LLC, of Sapulpa.
