Moore man gets prison time for burglarizing McAlester business

McALESTER — A Moore man was recently sentenced to serve prison time for burglarizing a McAlester business.

Eric Anthony Watson, 25, pleaded guilty Aug. 3 in Pittsburg County District Court to charges of larceny of an automobile, second degree burglary, grand larceny and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

He was sentenced to 10 years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, with the last seven years suspended.

According to court records, someone had burglarized a McAlester business on Feb. 26 and stole tools, two computers, a taser gun, a four-wheeler, two trucks, a trailer and money. A soda and candy machine at the business had also been broken into and the money inside both machines were taken as well, court records indicate.

According to a police affidavit, Watson called the business owner and apologized for breaking into his business. “Watson told the victim where one truck was located and that he also had the four-wheeler and the trailer ... and that he would give them back to him” if he would help by not filing criminal charges. The business owner told police that Watson “would meet him at the Walmart at I-40 and Sooner Road in Del City with the truck, trailer and four-wheeler.”

According to the affidavit, Del City police located Watson in the area he said he would be and arrested him.
