McAlester Public Schools Superintendent Tom Condict says he’s stepping down as the school system’s administrator, effective June 30.

Condict said he’s retiring mainly to spend more time with his family —  although he acknowledged things might be different if McAlester’s last two school bond issues had passed at the polls. He became superintendent of McAlester Public Schools in the summer of 2009, coming here from Okemah school system.
