McALESTER — A popular McAlester fast food restaurant may be re-opening soon.

The McDonald’s restaurant in Tandy Town is just weeks away from opening, according to DeWayne Sampson owner of the Tandy Town  location as well as the Walmart McDonald’s and stores in Stigler, Eufaula and Wilburton.
“It depends on construction but our tentative opening day is October 23,” Sampson said on Wednesday.
The ‘golden arches’ were taken down in August to build a new restaurant at the same location.
The new store will have some big improvements including a  contemporary design, a double drive-thru, additional seating, as well as a new Play Place with two interactive games, Sampson said.
McDonalds employee Deborah Stone  said she is looking forward to the store reopening.
“I can’t wait to see all of our regular customers again,” she said.
