McALESTER — Sunday, 67 McAlester children received gifts at the Calvary Pentecostal Church of God, according to Pastors Todd and Marina Turner.

Marina said it was exciting to be able

to give the children a gift, candy sack, goody bag, gloves and a stuffed animal.

The gifts were donated by the congregation, friends and funds from the Turner’s ministries, Marina said.

“It was amazing,” she said. “We cannot wait to see what the New Year has in store for our church.”

Marina said when she and Todd came to the Calvary PCG, there were only four members and this Sunday there were 112 people in attendance.

Todd said the congregation has continued to grow.

He said during the summer many children attended services and have been participating at the church.

Marina said the church has been able to help children through the school year with backpacks, school supplies, clothing, food, hair cuts, computers and has even helped young adults get their GEDs.

“We’ve tried to adopt the Christmas sprit all year long,” she said.

Calvary PCG is at 309 W. Miami Ave. in McAlester.
