A McAlester home was destroyed after going up in flames early Monday morning, official said.
The home at 29 East Jefferson Avenue was a “total loss,” according to McAlester Fire Chief Brett Brewer.
Black charred wood beams could seen still standing among ash remains of the home. That and what appeared to be the stone base of a front porch were all that were left of the home that was completely destroyed, according to Brewer.
He said the home was apparantly vacant and no one was injured in the 4 a.m. fire which he said is still under investitgation.
He said nine McAlester firefighters were called in to fight the blaze which he said caused some $20,000 in damage.
Brewer also said no other structures were involved.
He said three City of McAlester fire engines, one ladder truck and one ambulance responded to the call, Brewer said.
