Angel Bernhardt said she wants customers at her new steakhouse to have a dining experience that’s an “affair to remember.”
Last month Bernhardt opened Angel’s Steakhouse and Brick Oven Pizza Restaurant situated in the back half of other her restaurant, Angels Diner at 1402 S. George Nigh Expy.
But unlike the diner which serves a fun 50’s style fare, Angels Steakhouse serves a different more sophisticated menu and guest dine in an “Affair to Remember” drive-in movie inspired room on candle lit tables covered with white table cloths.
She said she chose the theme based on the movie staring Annette Bening and Warren Beatty.
In keeping with theme, Bernhardt said she hired local McAlester artist Anita Caldwell Jackson paint the movie themed murals on the walls of the dining room.
Diners at Angel’s Steakhouse can chose from menu items such as aged certified Angus beef char-grilled sirloin and a 14 ounce ribeye, an 8-ounce beef tenderloin filet mignon, a 20-ounce French double boned pork chop and Cajun seasoned, pan-seared Ahi tuna topped with wasabi ailoi.
The dinners are served with table side house-made bread with house-made steak butter, baked potato or Angel’s steak house potatoes and the vegetable of the day,
“We cut our beef fresh and we serve it medium rare unless our guest specifies otherwise,” Bernhardt said.
Angel’s Steakhouse appetizers include Steak Rustler Pizza fired in a brick oven. The pizza starts with a Mediterranean flat bread topped grilled sirloin roasted red peppers, onions, baby portobello mushrooms topped with mozzarella cheese.
Also appearing on the appetizer menu are the baby portobello mushrooms stuffed with a special cheese blend and topped with house-made steak butter and baked in the brick oven,
Bernhardt said customers are raving over her “Chokes and Cheese” appetizer, a blend of cheeses and artichoke opted with Parmesan roasted and then served with “house made’ crostini bread.
Salads include The Wedge, a wedge a of iceberg lettuce tipped with bacon crumbles and tomato; and Strawberry Spinach Salad, fresh spinach toped with purple onion, feta cheese crumbles, sliced strawberry and candied pecans.
Bernhardt said her desserts are amazing and those items along with all the menu selections are created by her chef Bill Tackett.
“He is amazing,” she said.
“We have a Creme Brulee with freshly made Madagascar vanilla bean and a seasonal pumpkin cheesecake that everyone seems to love,” she said.
During the month of October a pumpkin cheese cake is also on the menu and she said the dessert menu changes weekly.
Meanwhile Bernhardt says she’s already had return customers and she said she’s working hard to make sure her guests dining experience is an affair to remember.
Angel’s Steakhouse and Brick Oven Pizza Restaurant is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to close, but she said “We can stay open as late as late as we need to for our customers.”
