The city of McAlester is continuing its Movie in the Park series this weekend — and this time, the offering is last year’s blockbuster, “Marvel’s The Avengers.”
Show time is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, and this week the movie will return to the east end of Chadick Park.
And yes, once again, the movie is free.
McAlester Community Services Director Mel Priddy said some vendors are expected to be on hand as well.
Priddy said there’s no back-up plan to show the movie inside in case of rain.
“There is no rain plan because the Southeast Expo Center is booked,” Priddy said.
However, as of Wednesday, the National Weather Service had forecast mostly sunny skies for Saturday, with a high of 64 degrees, so that may not be a factor.
As usual, those who attend may want to bring lawn chairs or blankets, because no seating is provided. Those who participate are also welcome to bring their own snacks and soft drinks. City personnel noted no alcoholic beverages are allowed in city parks.
Priddy said some vendors are expected to be on hand as well.
“Marvel’s, The Avengers” is the 2012 super hero movie that broke attendance records, including the biggest opening weekend in North America.
The movie features super heroes including Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk, with members of the ensemble class including Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson.
