McALESTER — A charge was dismissed for a McAlester man who was accused of robbing another man at gunpoint.

On April 1, one felony count of first degree robbery was dismissed in Pittsburg County District Court for 27-year-old Joshua James Maxey.

According to court records, Maxey was accused of robbing another man at gunpoint after first giving that man a ride. Court records indicate Maxey was traveling in a vehicle on North Main Street in McAlester on Nov. 27 at around 4:30 p.m. Maxey allegedly saw a man walking and stopped and asked the man if he needed a ride, court records state. The man allegedly accepted Maxey’s offer for a ride and got into the back seat of the vehicle.

The man later told police that after riding a block or two, Maxey allegedly pointed a gun at him and told him to give up all his money. The man told police he gave Maxey $140 before getting out of the vehicle, court records state.

Maxey could not be reached for comment by presstime Monday.
