The KiBois McAlester Care Center, a shelter for domestic abuse and sexual assault victims and their families, is accepting Christmas donations for the women and children who are in residence there.
“So many of us are preparing for (Christmas) with great anticipation,” said Connie Woods, shelter representative. “For victims of domestic abuse, this approaching holiday means many different things. Try to imagine this holiday in their shoes.”
The people in the KiBois shelter have had to leave their homes and all of their belongings behind, Woods said. This includes the children’s clothes, games, toys, pets and friends, Woods said.
The situation for the people living in the shelter is difficult, at the least, Woods said.
