A man who said he distracted police so he could rob a local gas station at knife point was arrested Friday morning, officials say.
The incident began early Friday morning, according to McAlester Police Sergeant Detective Chris Morris.
Morris said a 24- year- old McAlester man allegedly admitted during questioning that he purposely distracted the officers so he could rob the Circle K at 526 E. Wyandotte.
“We had a call about 1 a.m. from a man saying that he was bleeding and was headed to the North Town Fire Station,” Morris said.
While officers were sent to North Town, Morris said the man allegedly went into the Circle K and pulled a knife on the cashier and robbed the store.
Police were able to locate the man by tracing his cell phone to an apartment complex on Fourth Street and Osage Avenue, Morris said.
After identifying which apartment the man was in, the officers obtaining a search warrant and found the man hiding in the apartment.
A woman found with the man was also arrested.
McAlester Police recovered $142 in cash and other evidence, Morris said.
No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.
The man and the woman are being held at Pittsburg County Jail without bond.
