Tonight, the Southeast Oklahoma Fine Arts Inc. fourth annual Romancing the Arts Art Show will kick off showcasing art by local artists.
The event begins tonight with a gala at 6 at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple in McAlester, according to organizers.
During the gala, an awards ceremony will begin around 7 p.m. and the event will wrap up at 9 p.m., according to SOFA Vice President Anita Jackson.
Tickets are $25 for up to two people, she said, and can be purchased tonight at the door. She said the $25 spent on tickets can be used as $25 credit toward the purchase of any vendor art at the gala.
The SOFA operates an art gallery at 30 E. Choctaw Ave. in downtown McAlester and gallery hours are usually from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. But the gallery is closed this week to prepare and present the art show, Jackson said.
The art show continues Saturday when art will be on display and for sale at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple. Saturday’s admission is free.
“There will be food, drinks and live music at the gala,” Jackson said of tonight’s portion of the art show.
The event was originally scheduled for Dec. 6 and 7, but was delayed because of inclement weather.
Last year, Gilda Meyers won Best of Show for her piece titled “Flamenco.”
