McALESTER — City workers have removed silhouettes on street signs that depict scenes of cowboys and soldiers kneeling before crosses.

McAlester City Manager Pete Stasiak said the removal had to do with separation of church and state, yet “In God We Trust” was recently placed in the lobby of McAlesters City Hall, with the approval of McAlester City Councilors.

Bob Wallace the McAlester the business owner who paid for the silhouettes said he was shocked over the removal.“It made me feel bad,” he said.
