Pride in McAlester Executive Director Stephanie Giacomo is stepping down from that post to take a new job at the McAlester Regional Health Center.
Giacomo is set to become the new executive director of the MRHC Foundation, said hospital CEO David Keith.
The foundation had been formed in 2001 to support the mission of the McAlester hospital, often through fund-raisers and other events.
“We’re extremely excited,” said MRHC Chief Executive Officer David Keith. “Someone with her talent and skills will be an incredible asset.”
Keith said the beauty part of Giacomo’s new role is that she will continue working with the community in her new role with the hospital foundation.
Giacomo is well-known to many in the McAlester area through her work with Pride in McAlester. She’s served as PIM’s executive director since coming on board in 2011.
Former McAlester Mayor Kevin Priddle is a member of the MRHC Foundation’s board.
“I think Stephanie has done great with everything she was ever associated with,” Priddle said.
Giacomo said she gave a lot of thought to taking the new position.
“It was an incredibly difficult decision to leave Pride in McAlester,” said Giacomo, who is expected to go on board at the hospital in February.
Now that she’s made the decision, Giacomo is looking forward to her new position.
“The McAlester Regional Health Center is extremely important to our community and I want to help it succeed,” she said.
Giacomo is also glad she’ll still be working with the people of the McAlester area.
“I like being part of the community,” she said. “If we as individuals don’t act to make McAlester a better place, we can’t expect other people to do it.”
