City project to start the 17th

McALESTER — It’s official. The city of McAlester has finalized its proposed schedule for its Capital Improvement Projects  to reconstruct city streets.

Seven projects are included on the list, which will cost a total of $12,453,000, according to city documents.

Plans call for the project to be financed with bond money city voters approved during the May 14, 2013 election.

Following is a list of the streets, listed in the order of a “proposed schedule,” according to city documents.

• 1 —Seventeenth Street, from South Avenue to Comanche Avenue. The cost estimate is $950,000, with an approximate beginning construction date of Jan. 20, 2014.

• 2 — A Street, from Miami Avenue to Comanche Avenue, at an estimated cost of $1,240,000. The approximate beginning construction date is Aug. 4, 2014.

• 3 — Sixth Street, from 100 feet north of Jefferson Avenue to Monroe Avenue. Estimated cost is $500,000, with an approximate beginning construction date of Aug. 4, 2014.

• 4 — Second Street, from Modoc Avenue to Comanche Avenue. With an estimated cost of $2,290,000, the approximate beginning construction date is June 2014.

• 5 —Sixth Street, from Chadick Park to Chickasaw Avenue. Estimated cost is $941,000, with an approximate beginning construction date of May 15, 2015.

• 6 —South Avenue, from 200 feet west of Strong Avenue, to 180 feet east of Franklin Street, with an estimated cost of $1,700,000 and an approximate beginning construction date of May 15, 2015.

• 7 —Washington Avenue, from Main Street to Carl Albert Parkway. With an estimated cost of $4,832,000, the approximate starting date is July 6, 2015.
