The Pittsburg County commissioners had a visit from the 4-H Leadership Team and interviewed for a new Pittsburg County Emergency Management director on Monday.
The commissioner’s met for a regular meeting at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
Greg Owen Extension 4-H Youth Development Educator for the Pittsburg County Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service said he and several 4-H members came to Monday’s meeting to present the commissioners with a portrait of this year’s Leadership Team.
Also during the meeting the commissioners went into executive session for “discussion and possible action to new Emergency Management director,” according to the agenda.
The director position became available when former director Trent Myers was elected in November as the District 3 commissioner after the August death of Ronnie Young.
District 2 Commissioner Kevin Smith said there were 25 applicants for the director position.
After screening the applicants the commissioners interviewed 9 for the position, Smith said.
“We will make a decision next week,” Smith said.
Also attending Monday’s meeting were District 1 Commissioner Gene Rogers and District 3 Commissioner Kevin Smith.
Pittsburg County commissioners meet Mondays at 9 a.m. in the commissioner’s conference room at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The meetings are open to the public.
