A house fire rekindled this morning in Krebs after firefighters had already battled the blaze for several hours overnight,
The Krebs Fire Department dispatched another unit to the scene early today after getting a report that the blaze had restarted.
No one had been injured in the fire at 75 S.E. Lincoln St., said Krebs Fire Chief Chuck Nelms. The fire destroyed much of the house.
Nelms said the occupants of the house were not at home when the fire occurred.
Their names were not listed on the fire report, but the home is owned by Chan Lee, he said.
The fire had been fully involved when the report came in around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, according to Nelms. The glow from the fire could be seen in much of Krebs.
“The sky was lit up orange when I walked out,” Nelms said.
Units from Krebs, McAlester and Alderson responded to the call for help. Sixteen firefighters from Krebs alone battled the blaze.
They fought the fire until around 2 a.m., Nelms said.
The fire gutted the home and left little more than the walls standing in some areas. Nelms said it has not yet been determined what caused the fire.
Reports that the fire had rekindled came in around 8 this morning, resulting in more firefighters rushing to the scene to douse the blaze.
