Time for Angel Food orders

McAlester Church of the Nazarene, 700 W. Adams St., 423-7999 and Lakewood Christian Church, 840 S. George Nigh Expy., 423-2736 are taking orders for November Angel Food this week. The order dates for the November menu are Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 until 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Also, Bowers Baptist Church, 1250 Chronister Rd., Wilburton, (918) 465-3896 is taking orders on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. until noon.

Payment in full is required when the units are ordered with cash, money order, cashiers check, or food stamps — no checks are accepted. Orders may also be made by credit or debit card online at www.angelfoodministries.com until 11 p.m. Nov. 9.

Angel Food charges a $1 transaction fee to cover the bank charge for use of credit cards. When ordering online, print your receipt and bring it with you to pickup food. If you are a first time buyer, you will pay your tub deposit when the food is picked up on Nov. 22. For returning customers who wish to order online, bring your clean tub when you pick up food.

The November regular box for $30 includes the following: 1.5 lb New York strip steak, 3 lb. IQF split chicken breast, 2 lb. baby back pork ribs, 2 lb. chicken chunks; 28 oz. jumbo charbroiled beef patties with gravy, 1 lb. smoked sausage, 1 lb. ground turkey, 1 lb. green beans, 1 lb. diced sweet potatoes, 10 oz. peanut butter, 15 oz. cranberry sauce, 7 oz. beef-flavored rice and vermicelli, 20 oz. shoestring fries, 32 oz. 2 percent reduced fat shelf stable milk, 6 oz. pancake mix, dozen eggs and a dessert item.

The Senior Box for $28 includes 10 nutritionally balanced, fully cooked meals — just heat and serve. Each meal has been developed with the dietary needs of senior citizens in mind, and contains 3 oz. of protein, a starch and two vegetables or fruit. Meals include: Sweet ‘n Sour chicken, spaghetti with meat sauce; chili con carne, chicken with creole sauce, ground beef teriyaki stir fry, chicken ala king, beef cabbage casserole, chicken rice pilaf, turkey tetrazzini, and chicken stew.

The Thanksgiving dinner box for $30 includes: 7 lb. Perdue roasting hen, 2 lb. heat and serve mashed potatoes, 2 lb. heat and serve corn, 2 lb. heat and serve green beans, 17 oz. cornbread dressing, 4.5 oz. brown gravy mix, 15 oz. cranberry sauce, eight dinner rolls and a dessert item (quanities for the Thanksgiving dinner boxes are limited, order early).

Angel Food is not a program based on need or income. There are no applications and no qualifications. There is no limit on the quantity of units purchased. Angel Food Ministries reserves the right to substitute any of the above items due to availability, cost, or quality issues.



Special boxes

With the purchase of at least one of the three units listed above, participants may also purchase any of the specials listed.

• Special 1 – 7 lb. grill box for $21 includes: 2 lb. choice cut beef roast, 2 lb. St. Louis style pork ribs, 2 lb. hamburger beef steaks and 1 lb. mild Italian sausage with mozzarella cheese.

• Special 2 – 4.5 lb. meat combo box for $21 includes:1.5 lb. bone-in ribeye steaks, 1.5 lb. Kansas City strip steaks and 1.5 lb. boneless center cut pork chops.

• Special 3 – 4.5 lb. flavored bonless/skinless chicken breast for $18 includes: 1.5 lb. rotisserie flavor, 1.5 lb. lemon-fajita flavor and 1.5 lb. sun-dried tomato flavor.

• Special 4 – Fresh fruit and veggie box for $21 includes: 3 lb. North Carolina new crop red Rome apples, 3 lb. Washington State new crop granny smith apples, 4 lb. new crop Florida navel orange, one stalk California celery (in sleeve), 4 lb. premium Idaho baking potatoes, 3 lb. new crop North Carolina sweet potatoes, two each ruby red Florida grapefruit, 1 lb. premium California carrots (cello wrapped) and 2 lb. large-medium yellow onions.

Participants are not required to purchase any of the specials, but if they choose to do so they can purchase any combination or quantity of specials.

The food will arrive for distribution Nov. 22. Contact your host site for distribution times.
