Lumpkins to perform theatre, Christian music
From submitted reports
Brenda Lumpkins will present an evening of original theatre pieces and Contemporary Christian music, Saturday at 7, at the First Presbyterian Church, 108 E. Blair in Wilburton. Tickets are $10 at the door or can be purchased at The Gallery or the Chamber of Commerce.
This is Lumpkins’ first public performance in the area, but she has been active in theatre and music since her college days. She was part of the highly acclaimed performing troupe “Up With People,” touring the United States and Europe. She also appeared every summer in the Long Branch Variety Show at the famed site in Dodge City, Kansas.
“I was the youngest Miss Kitty ever,” Lumpkins remarked. “I took time out for a busy career, but now I am back to what I love to do.”
She is the wife of Alan Lumpkins, superintendent of Panola Schools, and has lived in the are since the summer of 2004.
The concert, sponsored by the Latimer County Arts Council, provides funding for the arts programming the council offers to all four county school districts.
