Blood drive planned; tattoos not a problem

Kiamichi Technology Centers – Talihina campus will be hosting the 1st Blood Drive for the 2009-2010 school year. The Drive is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Each donor will receive a T-shirt. Please call 918-567-2264 or 888-567-6643 and talk with Jodie White to schedule an appointment.

For years, blood centers have told people with recent tattoos to wait a year from the date of the tattoo before they donate blood. At United Blood Services, the rule has changed and people with recent tattoos will be able to donate blood if they were tattooed in a state-regulated tattoo shop with sterile needles and ink that is not reused.
