McAlester Archeological Society to host Arkansas archeologist

The McAlester Archeological Society plans to have Dr. Jamie Brandon from the University of Arkansas speak for the chapter at an Aug. 13 meeting at Krebs City Hall. The meeting will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Brandon is in his second year as the Station Archeologist at Southern Arkansas University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas and has practiced archeology in 13 southeastern states over the last 18 years. Brandon began his career with research interests in ceramics from the Woodland and Mississippian periods. His recent research has been in historical archeology and African-American archeology.

There is no admission for the program and everyone is invited.
