The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continued a probe today into the deaths of two people found inside a Pittsburg County residence.
The bodies of Joey Trammell, 26, and Reno Jones, 27, were found inside the home where they lived on Shuman Road in rural Pittsburg County, said Tommy Graham, agent in charge of the Eastern District of Oklahoma Regional OSBI office in McAlester.
“Some friends of theirs went to check on them Wednesday morning and found them dead,” Graham said today.
“They drove to the police department and reported it.”
McAlester police then contacted the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Department, which requested assistance from the OSBI.
OSBI Agent John Jones went to the scene to assist with the investigation.
“Everything at this point is consistent with a murder-suicide,” Graham said. “A gun was found next to Joey’s body. Apparently, they died of gunshot wounds.”
A toddler inside the home was unharmed as far as he is aware, Graham said. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services took custody of the child, he said.
The state Medical Examiner’s office was called to the scene and will make a final determination on the causes of death, Graham said.
Trammell is the son of McAlester News-Capital Press Manager Joey Trammell.
