The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board presented Krebs student Bryant Cole with a $200 award at the state Capitol for winning its statewide well site safety poster contest. Cole is a sixth-grade student Krebs Elementary School.
The OERB sponsored the poster contest in conjunction with its Fifth Annual Well Site Safety Day celebration on May 1. Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners, through the OERB, celebrate Well Site Safety Day to encourage youth and their parents to be aware of the dangers of playing around well sites.
Lt. Gov. Jari Askins kicked off the awards presentation by giving the first public reading of “The Road to Petroville” — a children’s book about Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas resources.
“Congratulations to all the poster contest winners,” Askins said. “You’ve done your homework and learned about the importance of the oil and natural gas industry in Oklahoma. In learning about the importance of oil and gas, you also learned the importance of well site safety.”
Well Site Safety Day is the kickoff of an eight-week campaign designed to build awareness and understanding of the industry’s commitment to keeping youth safe. For more information about well site safety, visit OERB.com/safety.
