Canadian junior high picks top eighth grade students

Canadian Public Schools has chosen the top eighth grade students from the class of 2009. The graduation ceremony took place on May 11 at 7 p.m. in the Darrell James Gymnasium.
David Lenox has been selected as the valedictorian of Canadian Public School’s eighth grade class. He is the son of Tracy and Jeanne Lenox, of Indianola. He is the grandson of Terry and Donna Lenox, of Indianola, and David and Dang Edmonds, of Scipio. He is also the great-grandson of Sue Lenox, of McAlester.
Lenox has been active on the academic team and was chosen MVP in ‘08 and ‘09. He also participates in FFA, basketball and baseball. He is an active member of Canadian Shores Free Will Baptist Church.
Bethany K. Cox, the salutatorian of Canadian Public School’s eighth grade class, is the daughter of Derrell W. Cox II and Barbara Cox. She is the granddaughter of Derrell W. and Paula Cox, of Bixby, and Jack Bean, of Nampa, Idaho.
Cox is active in basketball and FFA. She is also class president.
Cox hopes to attend the University of Oklahoma and play basketball for the university. She then hopes to become a professional basketball player. After her basketball career, she plans to be a math teacher and basketball coach for Canadian High School.
Samantha Koedyker, salutatorian of Canadian Public School’s eighth grade class, is the daughter of Corey and Ava Koedyker. She is the granddaughter of Vern Koedyker, of Eufaula, and Dixie Lowder, of Longtown.
Koedyker is active in basketball and softball.
