COMING: Piano contest is this weekend
Seventy-seven piano students from Southeastern Oklahoma of the Oklahoma Music Teacher’s Association will be meeting in McAlester Sunday at Lakewood Christian Church for the District Achievement Contest.
These students from Atoka, Tishomingo, Durant, Sulphur, Park Hill, Sallisaw and McAlester will present memorized pieces to be judged. They will also be taking a music theory test for their level.
Debbie Brown and Kathy Brod of the McAlester chapter of OMTA are sponsoring the contest. Judges are Sandy Pierce of Tulsa and Kaye Shields of Shawnee.
Students receiving a rating of 1+, 1 or 1- will move on to the State Achievement Contest to be held at Oklahoma City University at the Wanda Bass Music Center May 15-16.
McAlester area students entered are: Taylor Aberda, Jacob Adams, Eli Bland, Ryli Bland, Austin Burmeier, Felicia Doyle, John Harrison, Hannah Huddleston, Miranda Isbell, Taeam Kang, Jesse Lane, Joshua Lane, Tristan Longoria, Cayden Martin, Lexie McIntosh, Cidney McMurtrey, Jackson Metcalfe, Peter Metcalfe, Bethany Metcalfe, Decembre Mullins, Rebecca Nitzel, Madalyn Nix, Colin O’Brien, Colleen O’Brien, Audrey Phipps, Angel Pulchney, Bobby Raunikar, Erik Raunikar, Mary Raunikar, Joseph Robinson, Anna Rowell, Daniel Salters, David Salters, Esther Salters, Hannah Salters, Nicholas Santine, Julia Stizza, Alex Wilson, Carmen Wylie, Julia Wynn and Minji Zdeb.
