From submitted reports

A Haileyville man was killed early Saturday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Thomas Schanz, 38 of Haileyville, died at approximately 1:25 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 270 in Alderson, the patrol said.

The report said Schanz was driving a 1996 Ford eastbound when he ran off the road to the right and struck a bridge embankment.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Garrett Gray of the Pittsburg County Detachment. Gray said Schanz was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Schanz was pronounced dead at the scene with head, leg, trunk and internal injuries.
