An accident which occurred west of Arpelar this week sent three Stuart residents to the hospital.

Those injured included Jarrad McCall, 30, of Stuart, the diver of a 2006 Nissan. McCall had head and arm injuries and was transported by McAlester EMS to the McAlester Regional Health Center, according to the Highway Patrol. He was treated and released, the highway patrol said.

Heather McCall, 31, of Stuart, a passenger in the Nissan, was transported by Paramed ambulance to the McAlester hospital, according to the OHP. She was reported in fair condition.

Landon McCall, 17, of Stuart, was transported to the McAlester Regional Health Center with internal injuries, the highway patrol said. He was listed in fair condition, according to an OHP spokesman.

Anthony Queen, 40, of Canadian, the driver of a 1998 Mack truck involved in the accident, was not injured, according to the highway patrol.

The accident occurred at 5:02 p.m. on Monday 2.1 miles west of Arpelar as Queen was eastbound in the truck and McCall drove west in the Nissan, the highway patrol said.

While attempting evasive action to keep from running into the back of another vehicle, which the highway patrol said was not involved in the wreck, the truck swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Nissan head-on, according to the highway patrol.

Seat belts were in use and an air bag deployed in the Nissan, the highway patrol said.

OHP Trooper Dennis Splawn, of the Pittsburg County Detachment of Troop D investigated the accident, assisted by troopers Bryan Hale and Shane Hackler, also of Troop D. Troopers David Vasquez and Tim Baker of Troop XC, which covers the Indian Nation Turnpike, also assisted.
