Proposed resettlement of Syrians ‘act of deranged insanity’

McALESTER — Editor:

My question to the public is: are we going to stand by and let this happen?

How many of us are tired of handing money over to countries that hate us, or sending our troops, our sons, daughters, sisters, moms, dads, brothers, over to foreign countries to die? For what? Freedom?

We are over there due to the screwballs we put in office; at times I’m not sure we even put them there.

It’s not anything new to hear our political system is a broken system made up of money-hungry politicians whose interest are not that of “The People” but that of who can make them the richest. Now, after all the trouble we as a country are dealing with — bad economy, job layoffs, gas prices rising, houses foreclosing, reduction of Social Security (my Grandma is on Social Security; they reduced it; how do they expect her to live?) — and now the Obama administration is considering the resettlement of up to 70,000 Syrian refugees.

According to the theblaze.com, the refugees could be resettled in California, Illinois, Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. The L.A. Times reports that in the past, two resettled Iraqis were convicted of trying to smuggle arms back to al Qaeda from the town of Bowling Green, Ken.

On top of obvious problems such as spending money we do not have, and placing them in our economy which is not so hot for just us, I don’t see adding 70,000 refugees to the mix ending in a good way. They will as well be taking jobs that one of our own down-on-their luck average American Joe could be working.

I am standing up and telling you as Americans we should be appalled at this act of deranged insanity.

Here’s the foreign and political side of it. These refugees are in places where there is a high presence of Jihad and al Qaeda activism. That means more troops will be sent, more blood will be spilled and more families will be torn apart. We our opening our borders to people we have been at war with. Who can guarantee we can keep out the bad and let in only the good? I don’t.

If you agree and feel this crock of bull is lunacy then please, I strongly encourage you to contact your senator via email or phone. One voice will not make a difference in today’s society but maybe a unified group of Americans can make a difference.

There are plans to cut expenses of government, yet cuts aren’t always justified and if they affect people directly, there is a lot of unhappiness. Plans to close the Social Security office in Hugo is a recent example.

The President is in Israel saying “we’re a democracy.” I like to think I’m pretty “up” on current events but I guess I missed this major change in our government.

You don’t need that!  We have been hearing a lot of that lately, mostly by the left, but also by the right. They are mostly talking about  semi-automatic rifles and large-capacity magazines this time. Of course, we don’t need them
