This is in regards to a story that was in your newspaper a while back. It was about Oklahoma Chief Justice Steven Taylor. He was being sworn in as the new chief justice of Oklahoma. Apparently, they usually have festivities to go with this honor, which apparently meant spending quite a bit of money.
I was very proud of Chief Justice Taylor; he declined spending money that Oklahoma really doesn’t have. He opted for a simple ceremony of swearing in and nothing more.
Now, in hard times, why can’t other leaders do the same thing? Is saying, “look at me” so important? What about our children and education?
I salute you, Chief Justice Taylor, and I am very proud to call you an Oklahoman and a McAlester native.
I’ve read a lot of negative letters to the editor lately. I thought something positive would be a nice change.
