The Ten Commandments

I consider myself an American Christian and have for 60 years. A few days ago, I was reminded of a time in the early 1960s when prayer and Bible reading were removed from our public schools.This memory makes me mad, sad and ashamed. The reason I feel this way is because all of the talking that I have done against this un-Christian and un-American act has been among friends that agreed with me. But, like me, they were careful who they mentioned it to. Now we are afraid to install a monument of the Ten Commandments upon our courtyard.

I served in the military for six years, one month and 15 days. I think the freedom we are losing now, I helped to keep in the 1950s.

I think it is time for God’s people known as American Christians to stand with the percentage of American people that are Christians to be counted as such and work at getting back the freedom we are giving up.

I hope that my grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be able to enjoy the same freedom that I have. Free men are not equal; equal men are not free; freedom is not free.
