Disappointed in Dan

Editor:
I just received my copy of the Humane Society Legislative Fund’s newsletter and was disappointed to see that my representative in Congress, Dan Boren, was singled out for his egregiously poor voting record on animal protection measures.
As one of only 31 individuals (7 percent of all House members) who voted against three key policies designed to prevent needless animal killing and cruelty, Boren defended dogfighting and cockfighting, the slaughter of wild horses for human consumption, and the needless killing of imperiled polar bears by trophy hunters.
This voting record is disturbing and indefensible, and I hope that in the future Boren will choose to join the vast majority of Americans in supporting measures to protect animals from abusive treatment.
