Thelma Teakell

Thelma Teakell, 87, of Hartshorne, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Beare Manor Nursing Center in Hartshorne.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Pastor Mark Day officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Born June 13, 1921, in Mountain Park, she was the daughter of Roy and Etta V. (Baldwin) Barker. She married Thornal Bill Teakell on April 9, 1941, at Hobart. She lived around Mountain Park for many years and moved to Hartshorne in the middle part of the 60s. She worked for years and retired from Komar.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hartshorne and the Hartshorne Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Thornal Bill Teakell; one daughter-in-law, Eulene Teakell, Elmore City; three grandchildren and spouses, Marty Teakell, Kelly and Roylyn Monroe and Micky and Amy Teakell.

Also, six great-grandchildren, Mara, Devin, Brody Monroe, and Koby, Emily and Gunner Teakell; one sister, Lois Harrell, of Frederick, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Royce Teakell; four brothers, Delbert, Tommy, Roy and Troy Barker, and an infant brother, Melvin Barker.
