Nolan Marie Muncy
Nolan Marie Muncy, 86, of McAlester, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Wesley Walker officiating. Burial will be under direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Born March 13, 1923, in Canadian, to Tom and Ola Lightle McManes, the oldest of 10 children, she attended school at Canadian. She married Archie L. Walker and they moved to California where she worked in the shipyards during World War II. He preceded her in death in October of 1945.
She married Bill Muncy on Aug. 21, 1954, in Eufaula. They made their home in Indianola until 1976 and then moved to McAlester. She was a seamstress at Komar where she retired after 41 years of service. She was a member of the Church of God 7th Day. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and the outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Muncy, of the home; a son, Archie Walker, of Duncan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Harold Lux, of Manitou Springs, Colo., Gussie and Richard Hilburn, of Savanna; a daughter-in-law, Shelby Walker, of McAlester.
Also, 12 grandchildren, Christi Epps and husband, Alan, of Scipio, Dena Covalt, of McAlester, Brent Walker, of McAlester, April Maresh and husband, Joe, of Omaha, Steve Lux, of Phoenix, Ariz., Sherry Marczewski and husband, Terry, of Edmond, Brian Walker and wife, Diana, of Duncan, Dustin Walker, of Duncan, Micheal Bogard, of McAlester, Medina Arpelar and husband, Eric, of Midlothian, Texas, Les Hilburn of Houston, Texas, Drew Hilburn and wife, Regina, of McAlester.
And, 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Brogdon, of Savanna; two brothers, Laurence McManes and wife, Mae, of Crowder, Mabrey McManes and wife, Jean, of McLoud, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ola McManes; a son, Tommy Walker; a daughter-in-law, Rhetta Walker; five sisters; a brother; a sister-in-law, Betty Muncy, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gus and Frankie Muncy.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Church of God 7th Day.
The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 6465 South Yale Av., Suite 312, Tulsa, OK, 74136-7804.
