Mary Elizabeth Decker
Mary Elizabeth Decker, 95, of Ashland, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with the Rev. James Crowson officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Apr. 25, 1914, in Altus, she was the daughter of C. H. and Mary M. (Montgomery) Sadler. She grew up in Altus and Caldonia and married Lannie Decker in 1935.
They soon moved to Savanna and she lived there until three years ago, when she moved to Ashland.
For fun, she enjoyed fishing, mainly for catfish.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include five daughters and three sons-in-law, Elizabeth Darlene “Susie” Smith, of Ashland, JoAnn and Ronald Allsup, of Arkansas, Mary Louise Workman, of Tulsa, Carolyn Jene and Doug Penny, of Muskogee, and Lana Lee and Don Glass, Gainesville, Texas.
Also, five grandchildren, Randy Allsup, Louis Workman, Michael Allsup, Jennifer Hensley and Robert Penny; three great-grandchildren, including Jordan Zander Hensley; special friend, John Nelson, of Savanna, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1990; a son, William Henry Decker; a grandson, Lannie Dale Workman; three sisters, Eva Strickland, Bertha Salts and Josie Sadler, and a brother, William Sadler.
Pallbearers will be George Hensley, Coy Salts, Olen Salts, Dustin Webb, Robert Penny, Chance Hensley and Gary Wansick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Parks, Michael Daniels and Lynn Buckner.
