Shawn David Reese

Shawn David Reese, 34, of McAlester, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, from a motorcycle accident in McAlester.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Felix Waller officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Nov. 10, 1974, in Fort Smith, Ark., he was the son of Richard and Sharon Shelby Reese. He graduated from Savanna High School in the Class of 1993 and began working for Big Mac Tank Trucks.

He attended Tulsa Welding School and graduated with a master’s of welding degree. He married Amy Johnson on March 1, 1997, in McAlester.

He served with the Hartshorne division of the National Guard for four years.

He worked in the oilfields and for Webco as a welder. After he began in maintenance for Simmons, he worked for Pliant as the maintenance supervisor for the past eight years. He worked as a building contractor for a number of years, being involved with a number of projects.

He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, fishing, camping, and hunting, as well as just spending time with them talking. He also enjoyed watching his son play football.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Dawn Reese, of the home; two children, Fashion and Landyn, of the home; his father, Richard Reese and wife, Evelyn, McAlester; his mother, Sharon Reese, of McAlester; his grandmother, Bestine Stafford, of Arkoma.

Also, four brothers, Raymond Reese, of Rowland, Darryl Reese, Houston, Dean Reese, Banning, Calif., and Chance Reese, of McAlester; one sister, Betty Sethedith, Banning, Calif.; one stepsister, Dixie Black, of McAlester; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Brenda and Kevin Lordahl, of McAlester.

And, aunts and uncles, Debbie Rose and husband, Derrick, of McAlester, Shirley Spangler, Fort Smith, Ark., Raymond Reese and wife, Carol, of Tenkiller, Pat Stone, of California, Delba Tidwell and husband, Leonard, of Arkoma, and Sandy Staggs, of McAlester; a nephew, Brandon Reese, of Rowland, and five cousins, Conner Teddrick, of McAlester, Chris Reeder, of McAlester, Chloe Reeder, of McAlester, Stephanie Staggs, of McAlester, and Sean Staggs, of McAlester.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester Reese; a brother, Bobby Don Reese, and his uncle, Vernon Staggs.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Lordahl, Jason Harden, Denson Cable, Raymond Reese, Brandon Reese, Roy Engleman and Tim Cruse.

Honorary pallbearers will be Terry English, James Atherton and Chance Reese.
