Leona Eva (Shoemaker) Robinson

Leona Eva (Shoemaker) Robinson, 92, died Friday, Sept. 25. 2009, in Chickasha.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Pawnee. Burial will be at Pawnee Highland Cemetery Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee.

Born July 10, 1917, in Terlton, she was the daughter of Menno and Edna (Longan) Shoemaker. She graduated from Coyle High School in 1935 and was the first member of her extended family to be a college graduate. She earned her elementary degree at Oklahoma A&M in 1947. Prior to her graduation she received her lifetime teaching certificate and taught in one-room schools in four locations in Payne County. She continued teaching at Maramec Schools, where she taught freshman English. She completed her career at Glencoe.

She married Wilbur J. Robinson on Nov. 22, 1950, in the home of the Rev. J.F. Wick, in Maramec, and they have five children. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2003.

Survivors include Karen Bartlett, of Norman, Jan Storms and husband, Bruce, of Chickasha, LaDell Emmons and husband, Mark, of McAlester, Leon Robinson and wife, Ruth, of Pawnee, and Eva Robinson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Also, eight grandsons and four granddaughters, Jim and Iria Bartlett, John and Lina Bartlett, Jason Bartlett and partner, Ashli Velez, Kyle and Allyson Robinson, Bryan and Carrie Storms, Blake Storms and fiancé, Lauren Calhoun, David and Annie Emmons, Stephen Emmons and fiancé, Betty Buff, Paula Robinson, Jeana Robinson, Kelsey Storms and Deborah and Brandon Fleming; great-grandchildren, Laura, Bryce and Benjamin Storms, Eli Fleming and David Franco; one nephew, Art Clark, and nieces, Bobbie Norwood and Patty Hernandez

She was preceded in death by her parents, Menno and Edna Shoemaker; husband, Wilbur; son, William; son-in-law, Jim Bartlett Sr.; great-grandsons, James Alexander Bartlett and Micah Thomas Fleming; sister, Leaura Clark, and brother, Wilber Shoemaker.
