Alfred Williamson

Alfred Williamson, 85, of Henryetta, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, in McAlester.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah. The United States Army will provide military honors. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.

Born Mar. 22, 1924, in Scipio, he was the son of Clarence and Jewel (Nave) Williamson. He was an Army veteran of World War II that landed on Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944, and served in General Patton’s 3rd Army. He was awarded three Bronze Service Stars, WWII Victory Medal and EAME Theater Ribbon.

He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He married Sarah Hope in Fort Smith, Ark. and worked as a mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Williamson, of the home; children, Georgia Cain, of McAlester, Terry Brakke, of California, Marilyn Sanchez, of Vinita, Lila Walker, Searcy, Ark., Rebecca Wilson, of Texas, Martha White, of Kansas, Linda Woolfolk, of Virginia, and Mary Henderson, of Texas.

Also, 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brothers, Loyd Williamson, Hue Williamson, Odis Williamson, and sisters, Mandy Grant, Mamie Stanley, Oleta Gordon, Gladys Troussel and Ruth Yarbrough.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Twyla Williamson, and two brothers, Olen and Randolph Williamson.
