Dortha L. Bland

Dortha L. Bland, 89, of Quinton, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Quinton Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Quinton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Dye officiating. Burial will be at Quinton City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hunn & Black Funeral Home of Quinton.

Born Oct. 18, 1918, in Quinton, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mae Work. She attended school at Russellville. She married Richard Monks in 1938 and he precede her in death in 1938.

She later married Chester A. Bland in Russellville, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1994.

She owned and operated the Main Street Cafe’ for nine years. She also worked at Quinton Manor for 12 years, the Dairy Bar and Blacks Funeral Home for several years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Louise Westbrook and husband, Bobby, of Tulsa; a daughter-in-law, Ann Monks, of Quinton; four grandchildren, Michelle Holt and husband, Ike, of Tulsa, Paula Haynes and husband, Johnny, of Owasso, Gayla Smith and husband, Mike, of McAlester, and Mindy Bumpers and husband, Keith, of Stigler.

Also, two great-grandchildren, Ty Smith and Kira Holt; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kase and Kambryn; two brothers, Jimmy Work, of Quinton, and Gene Work, of Tulsa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Leon Monks; and two sisters, Margie Cagle, and Edith Smith.

Memorials may be made to Quinton First Baptist Church Building Fund.
